This page describes what happens to the information you give GEIST, and what does not happen to it.

What we collect
If you register interest in a Circle or ask for an invitation to a salon, you fill in a form here on the page: your name, your email address and one sentence on why you want to be in the room. The Circle also asks which language you would prefer. None of it is required — writing is your choice.
If you would rather write directly, your own mail client opens with a prepared subject and a prepared opening, and what the letter contains is entirely yours to decide.
The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no tracking scripts. We do not measure what you read, and we embed nothing from a third party.
Where it goes
GEIST keeps no separate submission database. What you write becomes an email that arrives in GEIST’s inbox and is stored there. Nothing is kept on the website and nothing is written to a database.
The sending is done by Resend, an email provider that despatches the letter on our behalf. They process the information for us and for no other purpose. Resend is a US company.
If you write from your own mail client instead, the letter reaches us without passing through Resend, and a copy stays in your own sent folder with whichever provider you use.
Subscribing to the essays
Subscriptions are managed through Substack. When you follow the subscription link, you leave the GEIST website. If you choose to subscribe, your email address is processed through Substack and becomes available to GEIST in the subscriber list.
Subscribing is confirmed in two steps: you receive an email you must confirm first, and nothing is sent to you until you have. You can unsubscribe through the link in every email.
The GEIST website loads nothing from Substack before you click. No content, no fonts and no measurement or monitoring scripts from the subscription service are fetched here: subscribing is a link, not an embedded form.
GEIST has its own privacy policy for subscribers, published with the essays. It describes what GEIST does with the list. Substack’s own policy describes what the platform does. The two answer different questions, and both apply.
Why we are allowed to
We process the information so we can reply to you and compose a Circle or a salon. The lawful basis is that the processing happens at your own request, together with our legitimate interest in continuing the conversation.
An expression of interest is not an application, a booking or a guaranteed place.
For how long
Messages and other correspondence are retained for as long as needed for their purpose and normally for no more than six months after the most recent contact. Information may be retained for longer where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or handle legal claims.
Your rights
You have the right to know what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to the processing. Write to bloch.anna@gmail.com and we will do it.
You also have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
